Lina loves you. Really.

Slayers

I confess myself addicted to this series.

This is somewhat peculiar, since, unlike most of the other things I write about, it makes absolutely no pretenses of being deep and existential (Xenogears and its psyche-crushing seriousness comes to mind), and presents itself-- at the outset-- as utter comedy.

I'm pretty sure most of its fan appeal does lie in the comedic aspects, but the thing is, once you get past the goofiness and the parody (though there's nothing wrong with parody, and it does a damn good job of mocking the D&D-esque cliche fantasy world) and the slapstick and the filler episodes, there's a bloody excellent plot and mythos underlying it all. (See my author's notes for more on exactly why I temporarily relinquished any hope of having an offline life as a result of this show.)

And then, you know, you HAVE to write stories for it and stuff, because you're now obsessed, and the more you think about it the more obsessed you get. At least, I did.

So, of course, everyone now has to read them.

As yet another side-note, it's probably become evident in all my other writings that I tend to focus on obscure characters, and I've found that, in fact, I have no aptitude whatsoever for writing about the main Slayers characters, though I adore them all. Thus, most of what exists here focuses on minor characters, and on the Mazoku Hierarchy in particular. (Yeah, I love writing about the unpleasant types. Go me. ^^;)
